EDC Korea 2025: Steve Aoki Brings Out MONSTA X’s Shownu for a Special Performance

At the 2025 EDC Korea music festival, held at the Inspire Entertainment Resort in Incheon, Steve Aoki surprised fans by bringing out Shownu from MONSTA X during his set. (He is also the leader of MONSTA X.) Together, they performed “Play It Cool,” a track from MONSTA X’s second studio album, Take.2 We Are Here, which Aoki co-produced.

This wasn’t their first collaboration. Back in 2019, MONSTA X and Steve Aoki shared the stage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas and later at the MDL Beast Fest in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Their chemistry was evident then, and it was just as electric during this recent surprise performance. The spontaneity of the reunion added to the excitement. Steve Aoki, visiting Korea, personally invited Shownu to join him on stage, marking their first joint performance in nearly five yearsAfter the event, both artists shared moments from the performance on social media, highlighting their friendship.

Beyond this collaboration, Shownu has been making waves in various fields. He debuted in musical theater with The Great Comet, served as the main MC for the YouTube web variety show No Pogi, and even walked the runway at Milan Fashion Week as an ambassador for the French premium lifestyle brand K-WAY.

With MONSTA X’s 10th debut anniversary approaching on May 14, fans can look forward to more exciting activities and collaborations. This surprise performance was a delightful reminder of the dynamic synergy between K-pop and EDM!

Hey everyone! My name is Zoe and I am currently 27 years old living in Brooklyn, New York. I've been an avid fan of K-pop since the start of the pandemic. In 2020, I was really bored at home on a random day in April and was looking on youtube for something new to watch. I decided to see what the hype surrounding BTS was all about and why they (and K-pop) were so popular and since then, I've been to 12 plus kpop concerts and they have been an absolute blast and I can't wait to go to more in the future!
